TEAM HISTORY

Over 30 years of swimming excellence.

Kingwood Blue Tide Aquatics was founded in October, 1980 with approximately thirty swimmers. The team’s first practices were held outdoors in the Forest Cove pool, but were later moved to the Kingwood High School pool. In 1982, the team’s name was shortened to Blue Tide Aquatics, but the 1984-85 season saw another change as BTA became affiliated with the Spring and Klein area teams to form Aqua-Tex, enabling the team to be more competitive in the Houston swimming community.

Due to the large number of swimmers registering with ATEX-BTA, it was decided in March 1991, by a vote of the general membership, to return to independent status as Blue Tide Aquatics. In order to accommodate the growing program, BTA expanded into the Humble High School pool in 1994, the Riverchase community pool in 1997, the YMCA pool in 1999, and the Atascocita Country Club pool in 2004 Blue Tide Aquatics was incorporated under the laws of the state of Texas in 1996 and is now officially known as “Blue Tide Aquatics, Inc.” or “BTA”.
